PROVEN TRUSTED LEADERSHIP
Welcome to Mayor Byron H. Nolen’s Official Website
Thanks for visiting. Since returning to office in November 2023, I’ve stayed focused on keeping Inkster moving forward. We’ve made solid progress in a short amount of time—and there's a lot more to come.
Here are a few recent highlights:
-
Upgrades at Dozier Recreation Center
Through a strong partnership between federal, state, and local sources, we secured funding to put a new roof and new HVAC system on the Dozier Rec Center—making it more reliable and comfortable for everyone who uses it. -
Wheatley Park Renovation
Renovations are underway at Wheatley Park to give families and kids a better, safer place to play and spend time outdoors. -
Senior Recreation Center Groundbreaking
In May 2025, we broke ground on the long-awaited Senior Recreation Center. This project has been years in the making, and I’m proud to see it finally becoming a reality for our seniors. -
Youth Summer Program
We’re gearing up for another successful year of our Summer Program, which provides local youth with a mix of educational and fun activities to keep them engaged and learning throughout the summer. -
Bi-Weekly Community Mobile Drive-Up Food Distribution
Starting May 12th, we’re launching a bi-weekly mobile drive-up food distribution to provide free food to Inkster families in need. This is part of our ongoing effort to support residents and reduce food insecurity. -
Citywide Water Meter Upgrades
We’ve begun installing new water meters for all customers across the city. These updated meters will increase efficiency, improve data sharing with city systems, and help ensure residents’ bills are accurate and up-to-date. -
Dog Pound Construction Funding Secured
We’ve secured funding to build a new city dog pound. This will help us better manage the stray, abandoned, and surrendered dog population, and provide a more humane and effective response within our community. -
New Master Plan Coming Soon
Our updated Master Plan is on track to be certified by the State of Michigan before the end of the year. This plan will serve as a key resource for guiding future development and investment in Inkster.
These efforts build on a long track record of improving city services, strengthening neighborhoods, and creating opportunities for everyone in Inkster. We’re getting things done—and I’m excited about what’s ahead.
Stay Connected
Community involvement is key to everything we do. Whether you attend a city event, share your feedback, or volunteer, your voice helps shape our future.
Support the Campaign
As we gear up for the next election, I’d be honored to have your support. Your contributions—big or small—help keep this campaign strong and focused on what matters most: the people of Inkster.
Let’s keep the momentum going—together.
